Our Process

Curious if Fort Dodge Fiber is Available in Your Area?

Use our address lookup tool to check the status of your zone and cabinet and see if a site survey and fiber drop have been completed for your address. Check Availability

Registration/Sign-Up

Fort Dodge Fiber is open to all addresses within city limits. To get started, simply visit our homepage and click on "Sign Up." You’ll need to provide your address, name, and contact information before submitting the form. This step ensures we have the correct details to keep you informed when your cabinet is live and ready for installations. *A valid email address is required for registration.

Already Registered?
If your address is already in our system, it’s possible that your landlord or a previous homeowner has already registered. Please call our office at 515-515-5000 to update your information so that, as the tenant or new homeowner, you’ll receive all necessary updates.

Step 1

Confirming Your Plan

When Fort Dodge Fiber is ready to roll out in your neighborhood, you’ll receive an email asking you to confirm your internet plan. Once you’ve done this and we’ve verified that your site survey is complete, you’ll move on to the next step—receiving your fiber drop. You’ll know the fiber drop is coming when you see white flags or paint marking the path for our underground fiber installation.

What is a Site Survey?
During a site survey, our technicians visit your home or business to plan how the fiber will be routed to your building. We’ll install a gray box on the exterior and determine the best location for your modem during installation. Photos and detailed notes will be taken to ensure a smooth transition when it’s time for your installation.

Step 2

Confirming Account Details & Fiber Drop

After your internet plan is confirmed and the site survey is complete, you’ll receive an email to finalize your account details. This includes setting up your email for invoices, adding authorized users, choosing a security phrase, and selecting any additional services like landline telephone or Worry-Free Wi-Fi.

You will soon see white paint markings or flags on your property indicating the planned path for your Fort Dodge Fiber drop. Please do not remove the flags. These will be removed once the fiber drop is in place. If you need to mow your grass, please mow around our flags or paint markings.

🔍 Private Utilities: If you have private utilities such as an irrigation system, underground dog fence, private gas lines, or private electric lines, etc., please mark them to prevent any disruptions or damages. Fort Dodge Fiber and TekLink Communications are not liable for damages to unmarked private utilities.

Before work begins, we must wait for other public utilities to mark their lines. Once those locates clear, our contractor will return to perform your fiber drop where we connect Fort Dodge Fiber’s network to your address. After the fiber drop is placed, Fort Dodge Fiber will contact you to schedule installation of services.

Step 3

Installation

Once your fiber drop is in place, we’ll reach out via email or phone to schedule the installation of your new Fort Dodge Fiber services. Our trained technicians will connect your unique fiber optic strand to your home or business, integrate it into the network, and thoroughly test it to ensure optimal performance. We’ll also install a state-of-the-art gateway for the best connection to our fiber optic network. Our team will be there to answer any questions and ensure you have the best possible experience with Fort Dodge Fiber. After installation, you will be sent an email to set up your online Customer Portal to be able to log in monthly and make your payments. On here you can also set up auto pay and change your plan at anytime.
